Sample story times for preschoolers and for children in kindergarten through third grade are at the heart of this bountiful guide to multicultural story times. Alphabetically arranged by 14 countries, regions, or groups (e.g. Native Americans), each chapter opens with a small map that places the spot in a world context. Following greetings in the major language of each locale is an annotated bibliography of books to read aloud. Next, comes a citation to the text for a puppet play, flannel board story, oral story, or a combination of the three, accompanied by patterns and instructions. This same approach is repeated for fingerplays, action rhymes, etc. Source notes are provided for recommended media (usually a video or filmstrip). For those with the time or energy, craft activities with annotated lists of resources round out each section. Julie Corsaro
